H1N1 now and later

I recently read from Cryptome some interesting facts I want to share and I included a link for you to check it out....

Here is a quote concerning an investigation on how the CDC is lying about the actual numbers of H1n1 in the USA.....When they were caught downplaying the actual cases they released this statement...

"July 24, 2009 is the last day that CDC is providing individual confirmed and probable cases of novel H1N1 influenza. CDC will report the total number of hospitalizations and deaths each week, and continue to use its traditional surveillance systems to track the progress of the novel H1N1 flu outbreak." http://cryptome.org/h1n1/cdc-flu-fuzz7.htm

At least 10 percent of the incoming freshman class is infected at the Coast Guard Academy, similar situation at the Air Force Academy, and likley the same issue at West Point, and other federally run military schools. There is no reason for the CDC to be reporting numbers to the pubic if they are merely going to lie about what the numbers really are, or are going to keep fuzzing them up. If there will be 17.374 million college students this Fall as estimated from US Cenus reports and from what we have seen at other campuses that start their academic season early we could be looking at 1.7 million swine flu cases in the United State with young adults in a matter of weeks as school starts to get back in season. The flu will be spreading like wildfire in the general population, and peoples lives are at risk, but all the CDC wants to do is lie about now serious the infection rate it, and cover up what the real numbers are.

This is not going to be pretty.....

Beer and Food Seasonal

Found this great web site and thought I would share- Please check it out. Lots of good information concerning my (our) favorite things~beer and food.
From the web site:
Seasonal Beers and Special Release Beers are the gems of the brewing world. They can come and go in a cyclical fashion, but can also be a one-time release. These beers are to be appreciated, and they represent the best in creativity and passion that a brewer can deliver. Seasonal beers focus on seasonal ingredients and highlight flavors that harmonize with the faire of the moment.
Availability of these beers is also something to appreciate. When you have a seasonal or special release in your possession, give thanks to the beer gods! Browse Seasonal Releases to find out in which states each brand is distributed. You may also directly contact the brewery to find out how to get any of the beers listed.
Cheers to beers of the season and the food they pair with oh so well!

'Dont' ask, don't tell' MUST GO

Commentary....
'Don't ask, don't tell' must go
Too many valuable soldiers have been lost to this discriminatory policy.
By Joe Sestak, Congressman....Posted on Mon, Jul. 13, 2009 from his editorial in the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Last week, an Army board recommended that Lt. Daniel Choi be discharged from the Army National Guard under the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy. Choi - a West Point graduate, Arabic speaker, and Iraq veteran who has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the nation's values - was the most recent example of the thousands of servicemen and women affected by the policy.
I understand that the military must follow the law as it's written. But Choi's discharge further underscores the need for President Obama and Congress to work together now to change this discriminatory policy.
In both the current and the previous Congress, I have been a cosponsor of legislation to repeal "don't ask, don't tell" and permit gay, lesbian, and bisexual service members to serve their nation openly, honestly, and honorably.
"Don't ask, don't tell" is discriminatory and detrimental to national security. It was a flawed compromise that should never have been enacted, and I continue to regret every instance of its enforcement I witnessed as an officer in the Navy.
During my 31 years in the military, I served alongside and in command of men and women of all backgrounds, beliefs, and identities who fought valiantly and selflessly. When a man or woman puts on a military uniform, he or she immediately assumes a commonality of purpose with all fellow service members. I cannot and will not turn my back on anyone who serves this nation honorably.
I can remember several instances when outstanding servicemen, with all the qualities I could ever ask for as a commanding officer, approached me about these issues. I did not want to lose any of these sailors. My only thought was that the nation needed their skills, talent, and patriotism.
Failing to treat everyone with the same level of dignity is counter to our national values and to the concept of brotherhood and sisterhood that is essential to the spirit of our armed forces. How can we say someone who went to war for his country doesn't deserve equal rights?
Since 1993, more than 11,000 men and women have been discharged from military service under the "don't ask, don't tell" policy. Rather than receiving the gratitude of their nation, they had their careers ruined and their reputations assailed.
I am not alone among former officers in wanting to end discrimination in our armed forces. Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff John Shalikashvili and more than 50 other retired generals and admirals believe it is time to end "don't ask, don't tell."
And the American people agree: 75 percent of the public favors repeal, according to a recent Washington Post report.
Moreover, our military is stretched to its limits by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. We face a persistent threat of terrorism. And our modern military depends on highly skilled, meticulously trained troops, ranging from front-line soldiers to computer technicians to linguists. It jeopardizes our national security to dismiss exceptional service members.
As evidenced in Israel and more than 20 other nations that allow openly gay service members, changing our policy will not negatively impact our military readiness.
There are those in the Washington establishment who say that, even though repealing "don't ask, don't tell" is a worthy cause, we cannot act on it in the short term because of political considerations. I am aware of the numerous challenges facing Congress, but I wholeheartedly reject this excuse.
I understand that time is of the essence as we work on long-overdue reforms of our health-care and energy policies. However, once critical legislation on those issues has been passed, we must address "don't ask, don't tell." I will fight to overturn the policy this year.
This is not akin to highway appropriations or the acquisition of one weapons system or another. It is a civil-rights issue that concerns the ideals on which our nation was founded, and it cannot be ignored.
It is a matter of equal justice under law, human rights, and the honor of America's fighting men and women. Our president - our commander in chief - must be with Congress at the forefront in overturning this discriminatory ban.

Stoudt's American Pale Ale at the White House

By TOM MURSE, Staff Writer for the Lancaster News
What would the president pour?
Now we know.
President Barack Obama's exclusive "backyard bash" for family and staff at the White House this Fourth of July featured a sudsy sampling of Lancaster County: Stoudt's beer.
To wash down an all-American menu of hot dogs, hamburgers, watermelon, potato salad, corn on the cob, ice cream and garden salad with walnuts and cheese were bottles of the Adamstown microbrewery's American Pale Ale.
"We just found out about it — after the fact," said Carol Stoudt, president and so-called queen of hops at the 22-year-old brewery.
So why did the commander in chief pick the crisp, citrusy, medium-bodied amber that Stoudt's recommends pairing with beef and spicy dishes?
"I think they probably like to look at the labels," said Stoudt.
As Baltimore Sun and White House pool reporter Paul West pointed out in his briefing to the national media later Saturday evening, the bottle is the one "with a big American flag on the label."
Stoudt's beer is distributed in 16 states and Washington, D.C.
For the weight-conscious, the White House also served the 124-calorie Sam Adams Light, brewed by the Boston Beer Co.
The guest list was limited to staffers and their families, as well as those who have served in the armed services. Also among those attending were Attorney General Eric Holder, White House adviser Valerie Jarrett and press secretary Robert Gibbs, according to the pool report.
Stoudt said Obama isn't the first president to serve American Pale Ale.
"Ronald Reagan served it because it was one of his favorite beers," she said. "It was not served by the last administration because Mr. Bush didn't drink, but it was served on two other occasions."
Both Presidents Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush offered the ale at White House events, Stoudt said.http://articles.lancasteronline.com/local/4/239629

Poetry on the drive home

Heard an interesting story on npr while driving home tonight ( I know this usually happens every day) but this story about poet Elizabeth Haukaas was different. I didn't connect so much with the story line about how poets make money but my connection was with Elizabeth's poems. I'm trying to get a hold of one of her books right now. Here is the link and more about her poem "The BLUES"

The NPR link will provide you with a reading of Elizabeth's poem the blues about her daughter and MS, which I can so relate too.

Palin and the Dept. of Law

from the The Huffington Post Rachel Weiner.... 7/7/09

Sarah Palin and her defenders have cited numerous ethics complaints against the Alaska governor as a practical reason for her resignation. Fighting the claims, Palin told the Anchorage Daily News Monday, was immobilizing her: "I'm not going to let Alaskans go through a year of stymied, paralyzed administration and not getting anything done."
Naturally, skeptical observers have wondered how Palin would handle being president if some ethics complaints are enough to make her unable to run a state. Palin's answer: if she was president, the Department of Law would protect her.
Palin said there is a difference between the White House and what she has experienced in Alaska. If she were in the White House the "department of law" would protect her from baseless ethical allegations.
"I think on a national level your department of law there in the White House would look at some of the things that we've been charged with and automatically throw them out," she said.
