Bull's Head Pub is now open General Sutter is happy to announce that the Bulls Head Public House is open! After a lot of hard work and the help of skilled friends the pub opened on March 8th. Here is some info....The owners acquired an original British pub sign from a good friend, who felt it will be put to good use. It comes from a Marston's pub that is located on the outskirts of Nottingham. The pub was refurbished about 15 years ago and the original sign removed. We feel very lucky to have the use of this sign and of course it answered the perplexing question of what to call the pub. The Bulls Head has an excellent beer selection including 14 taps and two cask ales plus over 70 bottled beers. Our pub menu has a number of traditional British pub items as well a some American goodies. Basically something for everyone. The objective has always been to create a true public house where people of the community and further afield can gather over good libations and food to relax, mingle, chat and sort out the world's problems. Bull's Head is a small, relatively nice neighborhood pub, but, I'm sorry to say, sadly lacking. The beers are different from what's generally available, but not very good. There are few to no traditional English or Irish beers like Guinness, Harp, Fullers, or even Marstons on tap as you might expect from the signage. It's different from anything you'll find in the area (which is good), but if you're a fan of good beer, you're not missing anything by not going. The food is about a 4 out of 10 (we had the Reuben and the Bangers & Mash) and the scruffy bearded bartender we had was pathetic. There were only three of us and he took our beer orders one at a time with only about 20 people in the pub. Go to check it out, but don't set your sights too high. It has so much potential and could be an exceptional pub, that it's a shame it's not a better experience. For good beer and a quality wait staff, try Iron Hill in Lancaster. The atmosphere can't compare, but EVERYTHING else is superior.
Mr Bill
Sorry you did not enjoy your experience. We always have Young's Double Chocolate Stout and Fullers Chiswick on tap, both British beers. We have also had such British beers as Harviestoun, Greene King, Ruddles, Morlands, Ringwood, Ridgeway, Belhaven, Wynchwood etc. etc. We also have many British beers in bottle. We try to stay away from the more common beers such as Guinness and Harp as they are available many places. Marstons is not available in PA although there is talk about it coming here soon.
All the best
Mr Bill,
While I enjoy the beers you have named, I can get them just about anywhere. The selection at the Bulls Head is different, delicious, and constantly changing. I would also have to disagree with you regarding the food (very good) and the service. The bartenders have always been knowledgeable and friendly on my many visits, even when it has been packed! I highly recommend this place, easily the best in Lititz (not hard) and probably the best in the Lancaster area!
