News from Shiner TX Spoetzl brewery

shiner-101-bottle

(Shiner, TX) – Know Czech? We are going to need it. Spoetzl Breweryhas launched an all-Czech promotional campaign for the new Shiner 101including a brand-new dedicated website for the beer.

Spoetzl first revealed Shiner 101 to us through a hint at the very end of the
Shiner 100 Bottle Rocket Salute video. A few weeks later, a rep from Spec’s mentioned that the beer would be shipped in mid-late January. Soon after, some blogs leaked the label you see above. Will the beer actually come out this month? Hard to say but the new Shiner101.comseems to hint that the release date will be closer to February 1st. At least that is when we will start to see things in English, according to the website.

Shiner101.com features three videos so far, all in Czech. The word, “Pilsner,” has also been crossed out on the bottle on the site as if that is still a surprise though that fact has been out there for a while as I mentioned above.

What IS in English is the label which reads, “Simple things aren’t necessarily easy. In fact, when it comes to brewing, it’s tough to brew great beer with just a few ingredients. But fear not, at the little brewery in Shiner we know a thing or two about refining even the most challenging of old-world recipes. This Czech-style Pilsner is brewed with barley, hops, water, yeast and 101 years of brewing experience. Here’s to sticking to your roots and keeping things simple, P R O S I T!”

The beer uses Bohemian Hanna barley and Czech Saaz Hops. 4.6% ABV and 22 IBU. It will be available in 6-packs and on draft.
