Will Oldham and the New Yorker -new music for 2009

Speaking of music in my last post. I just read a very interesting article on Will Oldham. The article was written by Kelefa Sanneh called THE PRETENDER-Will Oldham transfigures American music in THE NEW YORKER.

I am definitely going to be checking him out in 2009. He has gone by different names and bands names in his career and he is currently using Bonnie 'Prince' Billy.

I am glad that the New Yorker piece inspired you to check out BPB. He's an excellent musician and songwriter. But the article sucked and really didn't talk about his music at all. I'd say the author was inserting his own ego into the interview/experience in a way that made the article pretty lame.
